Welcome
Within the pages of my journal you will find mostly rants and commentary on topics of concern to me. Currently, those would include the illegal occupation of Iraq, human rights, the threat of theocracy, and the U. S. Presidency of Barack Obama.

If these things interest you as well, read on. If you wish to engage in attack debate, simply move on. I won't respond to you. If you are interested in honest debate, and have an open mind, then I welcome you.

Oh, and one more thing. I believe Bush 43 was the worst president ever to hold that office in the history of the United States. I am unashamed of that opinion.

Truth
If your actions harm no one, then they are ethical. The reverse is not necessarily true.

Birth control is NOT abortion.

Current Mood: angry angry

I've mentioned this issue here before, but it's worthwhile to make our voices heard through as many channels as possible.

From MoveOn.Org here:

Can you imagine living in a place where birth control is considered an "abortion" and health insurers won't cover it? Where even rape victims are denied emergency contraception?

It seems unbelievable, but the Bush Administration is quietly trying to redefine "abortion" to include birth control. The Houston Chronicle says this could wipe out dozens of state laws that protect women's reproductive freedom and protect rape victims. This "rule change" doesn't need congressional approval.

Can you sign an emergency message to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt, whose department is considering this rule change right now? We'll pass your signature and information to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which will deliver the signatures to Leavitt. They'll be able to follow up with you on this issue.

Important update from Blog For Choice...

Current Mood: angry angry

Another day, another dangerous (proposed) Bush regulation

[...] With the excitement and the anticipation of the 2008 presidential elections all around us (go Obama!), sometimes we forget that there's a guy already in the White House who is busy chipping away at our reproductive rights. But today, the New York Times dealt us a heady reminder with a story about the Bush administration's proposed regulation that is written to discourage health-care plans from providing birth control to women.

The regulation would allow health-care corporations or individuals to consider birth control "abortion" and therefore to refuse to provide contraception to women who need it. The proposal has the potential to undermine hard-fought laws that ensure women's access to birth control. [...] Please take a moment to take action. [...]
Where the f*** is science in today's world? Redefine birth control as abortion by a "regulation"? I can't express how amazed and disappointed I am by this proposed action.

Just for today, do your part. Have sex. Take "the pill". Postpone pregnancy until you are ready. Use some other form of birth control, while you still can, because if these people have their way, you will someday lose that privilege.
